So I know how difficult dating, love, and relationships all are. You put yourself out there to get ghosted, take rejections left and right, hold onto hope that something ::just might be there this time::, and in the rarest of cases–you win the lottery and find someone great. Yes, finding someone that you actually like that likes you back really does feel like 1 in a million…or rather, close to a billion at this point. It’s all just really exhausting, makes you feel anxious that anything could be gone tomorrow, and just really puts a toll on your heart. BUT, I want you to know–you are not alone, you’re out here doing the thing, and it will be worth it once you find your person…or at least I’m telling myself that.
It’s easy to forget about all that because my biggest beef with Valentine’s Day is that it makes non-singles feel very much not valued for finding someone that loves them back…but like really though, congrats you found someone to do shit and have consistent sex with! And I’ll admit, I was very much down about this “not feeling enough/wanted feeling” the the other day when my friend came to the rescue (shoutout to Kelsy) and sent me a heartwarming 1:45 long voice note to remind me that I’m already loved and wanted by so many people in my life despite what that dude probably named Bradley that uses his neighborhood and/or height as his lead personality trait may think. (Guys in the West Village, yo–your frat days are over, time to adopt some real hobbies and interests for the love of your Patagonia vest). And the same goes for this holiday. There are so many more people in your life like your friends, family, even your bodega guy or barista that hears all the good and bad updates of your life musings. They’re here for you and are the real ones that have stuck around. Friendship is the best ship, so besides loving yourself this Feb 14th (and just not on Galentine’s Day…Yes, I have more beef on that one, woof!), tell your ride or dies that you love them too!
Because I want to continue spreading the love, my friends and I made thing to spread some love on Valentine’s Day whether you’re single, taken, or just want a smile. Check out valentineroulette.com to send a voice note valentine and receive one from a sweet stranger tomorrow. They’re friendly, cute, and most importantly–will make you feel loved. So get to it :)
Did you send a valentine yet? Just making sure! Go to valentineroulette.com now and make one before midnight to receive yours on Valentine’s Day <3
